These 15.5 x 15.5 tiles were created from 11$ cheap thin plywood, whitewashed and stenciled with Behr paint, edges beveled with a belt sander and painted with a clay color, then polyurethaned 4 times. Not sure if they will hold up--I wouldn't drop something heavy on them! Not sure what to use for grout yet; they might 'move' with humidity?? I guess we'll see how this experiment holds up...

We read a book about animals playing hide and seek and the frontispiece was filled with many colored chameleons. Em took it upon himself to observe them, then draw them while I was trying to get Rhodes down for a nap. He did a beautiful job concentrating (many had different designs/stripes/squares) and noticed their bottom jaws and 2 toes:
