Chameleon Drawings by Emery

We read a book about animals playing hide and seek and the frontispiece was filled with many colored chameleons. Em took it upon himself to observe them, then draw them while I was trying to get Rhodes down for a nap. He did a beautiful job concentrating (many had different designs/stripes/squares) and noticed their bottom jaws and 2 toes:

Corn Block Print

Experimented with acrylic paint on an old stained Tee...carved from an easy-cut block! Now, to wash it and see if it stays...!

Plight of the Pachyderm or Elephant Boy

Gave my students a paragraph to read and they had to illustrate it using google and Photoshop. I didn't show them mine, but I really had fun with it. I need to take tons of random pics of grandsons when I am around them, so I can use them in my pics...

Surreal City Drawing

Found this pic on my phone and wasn't sure if I'd ever posted it before--extremely poor quality. It's hanging in the living room.

Languid Squid!

Again...not 'loose' enough or 'dirty'....

Alley Drawing

Found this old sketch of mine scanned and saved on a flash drive (bad scan); never completed but I still rather like ti--just wish it would of been drawn grungier.

Emery Clay 'O' Painting

I knew I'd find this pic sooner or later--twas on my phone. I believe Emery was about 26-28 months.  Intense concentration and the color mixing of blues/greens/purples with a splotch of red thrown in, Em concentrated on creating quarter-sized and larger circles, some with smiles and eyes, and other random (carefully placed) shapes on a 12 x 18 page, 1/2 of which is framed here:

Sunrise Shell Necklaces of Hawaii

Does beading and working with shells count as 'art'?! Look at these wonderful sunrise and moonrise shells... or go to http://sunrisekauai.blogspot.com/

5 Minute Face

This was created to use up some extra paint--so it wouldn't go to waste, and because I had just looked up Modigliani! (And to show kids that faces can be painted with ANY color--not just tan.)

Em and the Super Tang

I guess I should of put this on the graphics blog, but I like it's grungy, artsy elements. The snake cactus/lava rock wall is south of Old Koloa town, near Nate and Bail's place...the tree in the background is a couple blocks east growing lonely in a field of nothing...

Mourning Glory

I have it in my mind that I will be doing some plant drawings later this summer...here's a pic taken through glass of an old drawing. I guess this one really isn't a plant, but the Flint Hills flannel mullein I'm currently working on is composed of squid!

Art...or not???

Can't decide whether this should be an 'art' or a 'craft'...paper mache can be both...this junk boat and the attempt at realism isn't artsy however...but I felt very creative when putting together all the details. Hmm.

Sea Bouquet

Found an 'ocean' drawing I'd forgotten about... It goes along with one called Mourning Glory Bird...I'll have to scan that one in...
